During the delimitation exercise, the number of Assembly Constituencies in Thane District increased from 13 to 24, while the number of Parliamentary Constituencies increased from 2 to 4.

Subsequently, with effect from 15 August 2014, Thane District was bifurcated into Thane and Palghar Districts. Following the bifurcation, Thane District presently comprises 18 Assembly Constituencies and 3 Parliamentary Constituencies.

At present, the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls is being undertaken across all 18 Assembly Constituencies of Thane District. As part of this exercise, the particulars of electors whose names appear in the existing electoral rolls are being verified by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) through field visits.

The BLOs may visit residential premises, housing societies, residential complexes and other locations to undertake the verification process.

All electors are therefore requested to extend their full cooperation to the BLOs and provide the necessary information/documents, wherever required, for verification of their electoral particulars of last SIR electoral roll of 2002.

The active participation and cooperation of every elector will contribute towards preparing a comprehensive, accurate and updated Electoral Roll.
